Research Fellow, University of Roehampton
Seán studied sociology and social anthropology at Newcastle University. He has held a variety of academic positions, including lecturer in research methods and social movements at Northumbria University; research associate at Royal Holloway College investigating street life and ethnicity in London; research fellow at CRONEM (Centre for Research on Nationalism, Ethnicity and Multiculturalism), University of Roehampton; visiting lecturer in consumer behaviour at Roehampton Business School, University of Roehampton; and senior research fellow in the School of Social Sciences, University of Manchester, working with colleagues from the LSE and University of Cambridge on the AHRC-funded project, Beyond Banglatown: continuity, change and new urban economies in Brick Lane. He is a research fellow in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Roehampton , and a Centre for London associate.
Seán is also an expert on Mauritius and has written numerous articles about the economic, political and strategic importance of the Indian Ocean island for African Arguments, African Business, New African, Bertelsmann Stiftung’s Transformation Index, and The Guardian.
