The Community Knowledge Fund’s Advisory Group acts as a critical friend, bringing expertise and experience in community engagement, the R&I system, public sector, and EDI – and providing challenge and constructive feedback to support the development and growth of our programme.
Kersten England CBE
Chair of Trustees at The Young Foundation, Kersten is passionate about building community, social justice, equality and inclusion, and healthy democracy, Her career has included work in the voluntary and community sector, higher education, central government, and more than 30 years in local government.
Michael Omoniyi
A Trustee at The Young Foundation, Social Entrepeneur, academic and commentator, in 2019, Micheal was named by the Financial Times among the 100 most influential leaders in tech. He is the founder of The Common Sense Network and a range of other organisations and charities.
Sado Jirde
Director of Black Southwest Network (BSWN), Sado is active on several boards including Bristol’s One City Economy and Bristol University Court. Sado is committed to ensuring solutions to systemic racial and socio-economic inequalities are developed collaboratively with Black and minoritised communites.
Lewis Hou
Founder and director of the Science Ceilidh, Lewis is particularly interested in community engagement and educational approaches that put people first, challenge institutional hierarchies and disciplinary silos, and support social justice.
Dr Timothy Hall
An academic in Residence, Citizens UK, Tim brings 25 years of experience in higher education with a track record in programme innovation, academic management, innovative teaching, research and knowledge exchange. He is the Founder of Peterborough Citizens.
Helen Animashaun
As Community Engagement with Research Manager, British Science Association, Helen has more than 10 years’ experience in the NGO sector, using participatory approaches in project management, community development, and capacity building at grassroots and regional levels.

Community Knowledge Fund awards 24 grants across the UK
