Institute of Community Studies Working Paper No.5 – July 2003

This publication provides insight into research undertaken by the Institute of Community Studies (now The Young Foundation) into Polish immigrants in London. The study is based on extended contact with Poles living in London and on a pilot study with ten Polish immigrants who had been living and working in London for a period of less than five years at the time of the study.

The primary aim of the research was to explore the problems confronted by this group – which was set to become larger with the accession of Poland to the EU. The findings show that many of the problems Polish immigrants were facing overlapped with those of Black migrants.
