Paul was a writer, broadcaster and the former editor of the social affairs magazine New Society. He was awarded a research fellowship by the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 for his work on suburbia which laid the foundation

Paul has 15 years’ experience in the charity and not-for-profit sector, having begun his career in the corporate world. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and brings experience across HR, and IT, as well as finance.

In 2015 he founded Velvet Joy Productions to explore the lives and work of individuals who have been neglected, marginalised or misrepresented in the arts and media.

Managing peer research projects, he has supported diverse groups of people to co-design, conduct, analyse and present timely and ethical research to achieve real-world policy impact.
